Smart Fit is the leading company in the fitness market in Latin America, the largest network of gyms outside of the U.S. and the fourth largest network in the world in number of members. By the end of march 31, 2020, before the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of active members totaled 2.8 million. By the end of December 2021, Smart Fit’s network was composed of 1,065 gyms.
Smart Fit has presence in 14 countries in Latin America. It is the leading company in number of active members in Brazil, in Mexico and in the region composed of Colômbia, Chile and Peru. In Brazil, Smart Fit has presence in more than 160 cities, in all of the 27 states. Outside of Brazil, Smart Fit has presence in more than 140 cities in 13 countries.
Besides, Smart Fit believes that it is the leading company in digital fitness in Latin America. By the end of December 2021, more than 430 thousand members subscribed Smart Fit’s workout (Queima Diaria) and nutritional apps (Nutri).
The High-Value Low-Price (HVLP) business model adopted by Smart Fit and the ecosystem developed over the last few years have been contributing to its goal of providing eased access to high-standard fitness, propitiating an increased well-being for a growing number of people.
Smart Fit’s strong culture of innovation aims at continuously improving the customers experience and the gyms’ productivity. Since its inception, Smart Fit implemented important changes to its gyms by adding space and equipment for group exercise classes (i.e. Shape, HIIT, dance classes, Smart Box), which contributed to a more dynamic experience and increased utilization of the gym’s equipment and space.
The HVLP business model allowed Smart Fit to expand operations at a fast pace over the last decade. Since 2011, Smart Fit’s network was up 36% p.a., which drove the number of active members up from 123 thousand by the end of 2011 to 2.8 million by the end of march 2020 (pre-pandemic).
Besides the HVLP model, Smart Fit operates premium gyms (Bio Ritmo and O2) and studios (Race Bootcamp, Tonus Gym, Vidya Body & Mind, Jab House). The offering of premium services is important for Smart Fit as it allows the company to have a good understanding of new concepts and trends in the fitness market, supporting its goal of continuously innovating.
